Can Claude make videos? How to generate video inside Claude

Claude doesn’t make videos natively, but it can direct the best video models through a connector: text-to-video, animating images, voiceovers and captions.

Short answer: not by itself. Claude can write scripts, storyboards and shot lists, and even watch frames you give it, but it doesn’t render video. With a video connector, though, it can send your brief to today’s best video models, wait for the clip and play it in the chat, then edit it: trim, reframe for TikTok, add music and captions.

What “video in Claude” looks like

  1. You describe the clip: “an 8-second vertical shot of coffee being poured in slow motion, with the sound of it”.
  2. Claude asks a model advisor which video model fits (length, shape, sound, speech, budget) and tells you the price in credits.
  3. You say yes. The clip renders in one to three minutes and appears in the chat, with a download button.
  4. You ask for changes: a longer version, 9:16, captions, music. Each is one more message.

Set it up

Add the Typeshoot connector the same way as for images: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste your connector URL, click Connect and approve. Full steps are in our image guide.

Three ways to make a video

1. From a description

PromptMake a 6-second 16:9 clip: a paper boat floating on a rain puddle, close-up, gentle rain sound. Start with a cheap draft.

2. From an image

PromptAnimate this product photo [attach]: slow 360° turn on a black plinth, soft rim light, 5 seconds, vertical.

3. From an existing video

PromptHere’s a TikTok link. Put me in it instead of the dancer, first 6 seconds, 768p. Show me the price first.

That last one is a face swap, and it asks you to confirm consent before running.

Can Claude edit videos?

  • Trim to the part you want.
  • Reframe 16:9 to 9:16 for TikTok and Reels (crop, or fit over a blurred background).
  • Join clips and lay music or a voiceover under them.
  • Captions: TikTok-style word-by-word, timed to the voice.

What it costs

Video is priced per second and resolution. On Typeshoot the default model costs 17 credits a second at 720p (a 5-second clip is 85 credits) and 6 a second at 360p for drafts. Claude always shows the price before anything over 100 credits.

Tip: make a 360p draft first. When the motion looks right, render the final at 720p or 1080p.
